IFLA Empfehlungen zur Medien­ und Informationskompetenz

„Medien- und Informationskompetenz ist ein grundlegendes Menschenrecht in einer zunehmend  digitalen, vernetzten und globalisierten Welt und eine wichtige Grundlage für soziale Inklusion. Sie kann  die Kluft zwischen den an Information Reichen und den an Information Armen überbrücken. Medien-und Informationskompetenz stattet die Menschen mit Wissen über die Funktionsweisen und Funktionsbedingungen von Medien‐ und von Informationssystemen aus.“

Die IFLA hat Empfehlungen an Regierungen und Organisationen zur Medien- und Informationskompetenz in englischer Sprache herausgegeben sowie in diversen Übersetzungen, darunter auch auf deutsch.

IFLA Guidelines for Continuing Professional Development

The present document is intended to alert the profession to the importance of investing in the development and maintenance of the expertise of staff. It aims to advise individuals, associations, and institutions in their efforts to assure ongoing learning for a profession that will be well qualified to provide excellent service to its publics. The audience for these guidelines comprises library/information practitioners, as well as those who are responsible for delivering educational experiences and offering and/or encouraging continuing professional development and workplace learning. While this document focuses mainly on the library context, it applies also to information professionals working outside of traditional environments.

Bildungsbox für Flüchtlinge

Bibliothèques sans frontières meldet, dass auf der IFLA-Tagung eine „Ideas Box“ präsentiert werden wird, ein Konzept aus Kisten, das auf einer Palette modularisiert für Flüchtlingslager Bildungsmaterialien zur Verfügung stellt.

Die Box war bereits im Einsatz:

„Déployées au Burundi auprès de réfugiés congolais depuis février 2014, les premières Ideas Box ont démontré leur immense potentiel en matière d’éducation, de protection des enfants et de renforcement des capacités des populations réfugiées.“

Anderswo auf der Homepage von „Bibliothèques sans frontières“ wird die Box näher vorgestellt, sie besteht aus den Komponenten

80. IFLA-Konferenz in Lyon: „Libraries, Citizens, Societies: Confluence for Knowledge“

Noch knapp zwei Wochen – wenn man manche Satellitenkonferenzen berücksichtigt, in einer -, dann beginnt die Tagung der International Federation of Library Associations. Der Twitter-Hashtag, unter dem man die Konferenz beobachten kann, ist #wlic2014 und der BIB bietet wie jedes Jahr eine Webseite mit gesammelten Neuigkeiten zur Konferenz.

Jan Holmquist ist Mitglied der Zukunftswerkstatt, wurde 2014 als „Mover & Shaker“ ausgezeichnet, erstellte in Koopertion mit internationalen Kolleginnen den Online-Kurs 23mobilethings und twittert als @janholmquist. Aaron Tay schreibt im Weblog Musings about Librarianship und twittert als @aarontay.
Im Beitrag von Nachrichten für öffentliche Bibliotheken in NRW heißt es, das Thema sei berufliche Fortbildung und Schulung am Arbeitsplatz. Ich konnte das aber auf den IFLA-Seiten nicht verifizieren.
